Celebrate National Native American Heritage Month through the power of storytelling! After exploring the tradition of myths and legends, each tween and teen will create a story inspired by the genre.
Celebrate National Native American Heritage Month through the power of storytelling in this engaging writing program for tweens and teens. Together, we'll explore the rich tradition of myths and legends and discuss popular books participants have read in this genre. We'll dive into what makes a myth different from a legend, how these stories change over generations, and why they remain powerful and relevant today. Through group discussions, short readings, and guided writing prompts, participants will reflect on the stories they know and begin crafting one of their own. Each tween and teen will create an original myth or legend—imagining a world, a hero, a natural phenomenon, or a cultural origin story—drawing inspiration from traditional elements while bringing their own creativity to the page. No prior writing experience is necessary—just a love of stories and a curious mind!
